Learn to Fly "Taildraggers"

Earn your FAR Part 61.31(i) tailwheel endorsement in our Citabria Super Decathlon. 

This is a 3 day course flying out of F45 Palm Beach North County Airport.

Course includes:

  • 1 Hour of Ground Instruction

  • 10 Hours of Flight Instruction

  • PDF Copies of all Flight Manuals and Instructional Material

       $3,400.00 (additional flight time including instruction offered at $300 per Hour)

What to Expect

Ground Instruction
(1.0 Hours)

Prior to getting into the airplane you will review and become familiar with the operating characteristics of the Citabria Super Decathlon. Prior to training, you will be provided with a PDF of all training material. (The more prepared you are the easier it will be to absorb the wealth of information you will be exposed to.)

  • Weight & Balance

  • V Speeds

  • Limitations

  • Performance

  • Emergency Procedures

  • ACE Flight School Protocols

  • Then we move on to the elements pertaining to the Taildragger:

  • Torque and how we control it

  • Normal Takeoffs and Landings

  • Wheel Landings

  • Crosswind Takeoffs and Landings

  • Operation of specific equipment

  • Recovery from a bounce

Flight Instruction

The Flight lessons are grouped in training blocks designed to be performed in sequence with each block consisting of one or more flights. All training blocks will include emergency procedures and be bracketed with pre-flight and post-flight briefings.

Block 1
(2.0Hours)

  • Ground Operations and Taxi

  • Normal Takeoff and Climb

  • Slow Flight

  • Stalls

  • Pattern work and Go Arounds

  • Optional (Ground Reference Maneuvers)

Block 2
(2.0 Hours)

  • ​Normal Takeoffs and Landings

  • Pattern Work

  • Recovery from Bounced Landing

Block 3
(2.0 Hours)

  • Cross Wind Takeoffs and Landings

Block 4
(2.0 Hours)

  • Wheel Landings

Block 5
(2.0 Hours)

  • Additional Cross Wind Landings and Takeoffs with increased Cross Wind component
